It's going to take longer for older Canadian cattle to be exported to the United States. The US Department of Agriculture has pulled from review the over-thirty-month rule which would have allowed older Canadian cattle to be exported to the States.

American officials indicate questions surrounding Canada's latest case of BSE in a 50 month old dairy cow from Alberta as the reason.

Brad Wildeman, Vice President of the Canadian Cattlemen's Association is not surprised by the move, but is disappointed.
He feels the withdrawal may delay implementation of the over-thirty-month rule by a couple of months.

Wildeman stresses though, no one really expected trade in older animals to begin until some time in 2007.
