The Portage Collegiate Saints capped off their undefeated season today with a victory over the Fort Richmond Centurions.

PCI won in three straight sets (25-4, 25-8, 25-12). Head coach Derek Casper says he was happy with the effort the girls showed in this game. He talks about where he wants to see the girls improve ahead of the playoffs.

"We're going to have to work on our consistency," says Casper. "We have to limit teams from going on runs and we have to be really strong defensively. I find that sometimes we lack in that area and we'll have to improve that to hold on in order to hold our number two rank in the province right now."

As Casper mentioned, the Saints are ranked as the number two team in the province right now only behind the Dakota Lancers.

Casper notes that they lost to the Lancers for the third time this past weekend, all of those losses coming during the finals of a tournament. He adds they would be considered their rivals right now but the girls will have to focus on the competition in front of them before getting another shot at the Lancers.

He outlines how the girls will stay mentally focused knowing they are the favourites in their conference.

"Practicing with pressure," says Casper. "So, you're doing drills that involve a lot of pressure on the girls so that when they are playing in the game they're used to that pressure. I find our team is very resilient, we can be down and we'll battle to come back to win those sets."

The Saints will have a rematch with today's opponent (Fort Richmond Centurions) for the beginning of their playoffs. It will take place on Thursday, November 7th at 5:00 at PCI.
