Recreation Opportunities for Kids (ROK) held their first Christmas party for their Roquette After School Program at their Community Connections Outreach centre in the north end.

Executive Director Lynne Parker shares some details.

"The kids are all excited, they were outside playing hockey and we've treated them. We had Boston Pizza for their snack, and then they all get a little gift they get to take home with them," Parker says.

Parker says it means a lot to the kids to be able to celebrate.

"There's probably 19, 20 kids down there right now enjoying their pizza. It's exciting to see them excited. It's just something a little extra for them. They're all so thankful and grateful. We've had two or three of the little ones that have come to us over the last few weeks and said thank you so much for doing stuff with us here," says Parker.

Parker adds the gifts were either donated or bought by ROK.
