Comedy is everywhere if you allow yourself to see it and to feel it. That's the message local author and illustrator Rachael Clarke wants to put out there.

She hopes to make you laugh with her latest book, 'Let Your Lips Twitch'. A book launch celebration is happening this Saturday at the Portage la Prairie Regional Library. Clarke says she loves the whole process of putting a book together.

"I've been a lifelong artist. I love drawing. I've always dreamed of illustrating. I've dreamed of writing a book. I wrote poems and short stories growing up, all that stuff," says Clarke. "It's just kind of always been in me, but then I got a more serious career, and you know, this stuff got put on the back burner. Unfortunately, I was unable to continue with that career, and here I am, all of a sudden, diving back into all those old passions."

This is Clarke's fourth book and she hopes you'll love it. This book contains sixteen humourous stories that shows comedy can be subtle or overt, dark or joyous, adorable or cheeky.

"It is a collection of humourous short stories that I have written, probably, since 2019 until the present. That's when I were seriously dove back into writing," says Clarke. "They're from prompt contests, or from my own imagination, that just kind of come out. They've slowly been building over the years. I just finally decided, you know what, the world needs more laughs."

The event is happening Saturday, February 11th from 1 to 3 p.m.
