The Pink Ladies Snow Ride for a Cure, now in its 8th ride, is set to hit Portage la Prairie on February 3rd. Tammy Hammersley, a Committee Member, shared insights into the women's snowmobile ride that raises funds and awareness for breast cancer.

"Our funds, in the last few years, have gone to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation." Hammersley explains, "They are to further upgrade the facilities and equipment of our hospitals that are used to assist women in our area with breast cancer.” One of our rides, about six years ago, we purchased a gamma knife, that is assisting them with breast cancer surgeries and finding lymph nodes. We're very excited to help our own local hospital to bring this kind of stuff to our local area, so that our breast cancer patients don't have to travel to Winnipeg or Brandon."

Despite facing challenges with snow conditions and warmer weather, Hammersley assures ticketholders the show will go on.

"We are hopeful for more snow." Hammsersley notes, "We don't have enough snow right now, and the weather is looking like it's supposed to get warmer. We may have to come up with a Plan B, but that is still doable. We will go rain, shine or whatever happens to come our way."

The deadline for tickets is January 29th, available from committee members or select locations listed below.

Pre-event activities start Friday at Canad Inns with a meet and greet. Saturday morning provides a last chance for participants to drop off pledges. The main event kicks off at 11:30 a.m.
