The Portage Phillies have plenty to celebrate today.

The Phillies, who compete in the Winnipeg Men's Fastball League, were in Notre Dame yesterday taking part in a tournament in which they went 4-0 and won the event.

Portage registered victories over host Notre Dame, Hollow Water, Devil's Lake and Winkler in the final by a score of 6-5.

Phillies pitcher, Gregg Waldvogel, says he's pleased with their success at the competition especially considering they were on the tougher side of the draw. He credits much of yesterday's triumph to significant contributions on offense from the entire roster. He adds that they faced many of the clubs that they will meet at Provincials, so it was good to get an idea of what they'll be in for this weekend. For their efforts, the Phillies received roughly $500 from yesterday's cash tournament.

Portage's next league action takes place this Thursday when they host the Landmark Knights.
