The International Peace Garden, south of Boissevain, will be operating for the foreseeable future without CEO Garry Enns.

Enns continues to recover in hospital in Winnipeg following a single vehicle rollover accident on October 21st just north of the Peace Garden.

“I haven’t been able to talk to him. It is only from his family, so I get words from his wife and brother on how he is doing. We suspect Garry will be out for some time,” said Peace Garden Board Chair Charlie Thomsen.

Thomsen says late fall and into winter is when the action at the Peace Garden slows down and, as he terms it, everything is being put to bed for the winter months. “The seasonal staff are gone and now it’s just the full-time employees. Gwen Wooley our financial officer is now handling day to day operations."

The board has been meeting more regularly and Thomsen says discussions are just now getting underway about the coming year.

“Garry has been with us two and a half years and his contract runs through to March of 2018, and we are honouring that. It’s far too early to say what will happen after that point.”

The International Peace Garden is still open for business. The conservatory is open on a daily basis for visitors to stop by and have a look. “We are in the process of trying to plan some winter activities. So, that is still underway,” said Thomsen.
