A local artist and his daughter were a bit starstruck last weekend in Winnipeg at C4 Central Canada Comic Con where they got to meet Jim Beaver, who plays Bobby Singer on the hit TV show, Supernatural.

Mike Blume painted an acrylic portrait of Beaver for his daughter Candice who is a huge Supernatural and Beaver fan. She says it was an amazing opportunity to meet the star.

"It really was a star-striking moment, seeing him in person behind that table signing autographs. Even up to the point until we stood right in front of him. You almost lose all brain function when you meet someone that you really look up to and you've been waiting to meet," says Blume.

Blume's dad got the chance to have the portrait signed by Beaver. Beaver jokes the painting had an unflattering subject, but he was nonetheless flattered by it.

"It's a pretty extraordinary piece of work. I'm very impressed with it. I have a real appreciation for people who can work well in any artistic medium, and I thought it was a splendid job," says Beaver.

Blume's daughter said she's met most of the cast of Supernatural at a previous convention, but Beaver wasn't there. She said she's slowly ticking off the list of cast members she still has to meet.

"I was so fortunate that he was able to come to Manitoba at Comic Con and I was able to meet him, and actually get the chance to chat with him a little bit, and just to see him in person and get a picture with him. It was just amazing," says Blume.

Blume says it was great to have something signed by Beaver, and is glad her dad is graceously giving her the portrait.
