The Portage Collegiate Trojans now have the chance to enter the playoffs as the best team in the Zone 4 High School Hockey League.

PCI defeated the Garden Valley Zodiacs 7-2 last night on home ice and now can become the first seed with a win tonight. Goaltender Jaxon Dubois stopped 30 shots in the win. He outlines the keys to victory.

"Hard work, a lot of effort, and playing as a team," Dubois explains. "We can't get into the chirpy stuff and just have to play hard defence."

JJ Oke added to his league lead in points tonight with a hat-trick and an assist. The forward now has 56 points in 22 games. Second in the league in scoring is another Trojan, Cam Sarna, who had a pair of goals and a helper in this one.

PCI only has one more regular season game before the playoffs begin, which goes down tonight in Altona as they take on the W.C. Miller Aces.

"We have to make sure to play as a team and not get into scrums," says Dubois. "We want to put pucks on net and play hard defence."

The Trojans control their own destiny as a win tonight locks them into first place but a loss allows the Morden Thunder to leap ahead if they win their last game.

"First place means we would get home ice advantage, and we all love that in the playoffs," Dubois continues. "With the home crowd behind us, maybe we can take home the championship again."

The Trojans will wrap up the regular season tonight at 8:00.
