The staff at Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority have been making a positive change in the region with its $5 Club.

The club raises money and then distributes it to member-voted charities.

IERHA Executive Director Pamela McCallum explains more about the club.

“The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority staff contributed $14,500 to five organizations that benefit residents across our region. The $5 club is the Interlake-Eastern RHA’s staff-led corporate-giving program, whereas staff voluntarily contribute $5 through payroll deductions.”

The Survivors Hope Crisis Centre received $4,000. The Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba received $4,000, a new mattress was purchased for the Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, and Nova House received $3,000.

They also received an anonymous donation of $10,000 for the Beausejour Hospital. McCallum says the medical staff are sincerely thankful for the donation.

“All gifts to the hospital are very much appreciated, and a donation of this magnitude will make a tremendous difference in the ability to care for patients in Beausejour.”

The money will go toward buying high priority items.
