How can you make Portage as beautiful as possible and win a prize?

It's that time of year for Beautification Days in Portage la Prairie. 

Portage Community Revitalization Corporation community engagement coordinator Tara Brugger explains you can pitch in and make our community as beautiful as you can, and vie for a prize at the same time.

"Now that the snow is finally starting to melt, and I don't think we're going to get any more (hopefully I didn't jinx it), we are starting our Spring Beautification Days. They are going to be running from May 5th to 19th. It's just an opportunity for anyone in the community to help beautify our city."

She explains anyone can get involved.

"It can be Individuals, households, you can make up a team, classrooms, and workplaces," says Brugger. "You can pre-register online at www.portagecrc.com/springbeautification. Just give us an idea of where you're thinking about picking up garbage and recycling, just so we have an idea."

Brugger says you can visit their office and pick up some free garbage and recycling bags as well as gloves for the work. 

"Once you're all done, you can submit a photo to myself at t.brugger@portagecrc.com and get entered into win a prize pack," continues Brugger. "And what kind of prize? Anything can fall under the category of beautification. A big one that lots of people do is picking up litter and recycling. We've also had people that have cleaned up some areas that have been damaged. Really, anything that just promotes our city and how beautiful it is. Groups or individuals -- it doesn't matter. If you like, get a team together and the more the merrier. Have fun doing it."

The efforts are ending  on May 19th, so photos should be submitted on May 19th or the 20th at the latest.
