The Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival will be offering a free shuttle for the event on Saturday, August 24th.

Festival coordinator Linda Omichinski says they will have a 14-passenger shuttle leaving the Herman Prior Centre in Portage that will head to the campground at Island Park, before heading to the home of the festival off the 331 Highway by the Hoop & Holler Bend.

She adds they were asking themselves one question.

"So how do we connect everything, and make it affordable, accessible and inclusive, which are core values of the Whoop and Hollar Folk Festival," says Omichinski. "That's why we're introducing the free shuttle. It would be nice if a sponsor came to help out but we're hoping ticket sales can pick that up."

She notes they wanted a convenient option that would also be comfortable.

"There's lots of room, people can bring their lawn chairs and it's wheelchair accessible as well," says Omichinski. "We want to make it inclusive for everyone. There's no reason not to come out to see the magic of what happens at the home of the Whoop & Hollar Festival."

She says trips will take place every two hours beginning at 11am, unless there is more demand. At that point, the shuttle will go every hour. There will also be spots where people can return to Portage should they wish to. The final trip back to Portage will take place when the festival is over at midnight.

"It's free, it's affordable, it's accessible if you have any mobility issues," says Omichinski. "It's inclusive if you can't drive or don't have a vehicle, you can still come out to the Whoop & Hollar Festival."
