It is with great sadness that we announce that Evelyn Kaminski fell asleep in death early Saturday morning, May 12th, 2024 at Portage General Hospital at the age of 86.

Evelyn was born June 23rd, 1937 in North Battleford, SK. to Ernie and Mary (nee Cimmerer) Dubois. She was raised in St. Claude, MB. Evelyn married Joe Kaminski in 1967 and they were one month away from their 50th anniversary when Joe died in 2017. They lived in Winnipeg, St. Claude, Treherne, Carman, and finally Portage la Prairie, MB.

Evelyn is survived by one brother, Elmer Dubois (Felippa), her sister-in-law Judy Dubois, her brother-in-law Stan Kaminski, and her five children: D’Arcy (Frances) Glover, Neil (Cindy) Glover, Dan Kaminski, Susie Roch and Marina (Doug) Sedai, as well as her son-in-law, Randy Chaykowski, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Joe Kaminski, her parents, Ernest and Mary Dubois, her parents-in-law, Stan and Olga Kaminski, her ex-husband David Glover, her brothers Ernie and Phillip Dubois, sister Janie Dubois, sister-in-law Joan Kaminski, and her daughter Laurel Chaykowski.

Evelyn had many talents. She was an accomplished musician with a beautiful voice. She played the piano, accordion and guitar. She was an artist, especially loving to paint animals. She loved her garden, yard and orchard. She had all the skills a farm woman has, and had worked as a waitress, a welder, a nurse and a reflexologist. She especially loved animals, and she and Joe had horses, goats, exotic birds, rabbits, cattle, dogs and cats.

Evelyn started to study the Bible and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971, and for the rest of her life, loved to talk about the Bible with others. She had a strong faith in God’s promise at Revelation 21: 3, 4 of a paradise earth free from sickness, pain, suffering and death. She looked forward to the resurrection, when she will see her loved ones again.

We appreciate and thank the staff at Lion’s Prairie Manor for the kindness, care, compassion and attention they gave to Evelyn.

There will be a graveside service at a later date this year.
