Dakota Tipi First Nations' request for additional VLT's has been denied by the Manitoba Gaming Control Commission.

15 are now in operation at the community centre, and a request was made for 10 more. That would have brought Dakota Tipi back to the level it had before 2002, when the machines were removed while governance issues were addressed.

Chief Cornell Pashe is unhappy, noting the VLT's are important to the community, providing jobs and own-source revenue. He believes that allows for less dependence on government.

The Gaming Commission denied the request because some weekly bingo revenue reports were late. Pashe feels that's unfair because the Commission had a condensed version of the same information in a monthly report.

Pashe also wants to know the status of all 25 machines taken in 2002. The VLT's in operation now are different, and he hasn't been provided with a reason.
