As April continues, momentum is building for Manitoba's first Walk for Autism. Tara-Marie Hall, the event's coordinator, shared recent developments surrounding the walk.

Hall explained her whirlwind journey of organizing the event, emphasizing the rush to secure donations and sponsors.

"It's been busy," says Hall. "It kind of feels like time is sort of closing in on us right now. We're trying to get some donations and sponsors. We'll be out to distribute posters and flyers for any business or places that would like them. I also want to thank Mayfair Print Shoppe for donating. They donated all the posters and all the flyers for us, and we are so grateful. So, thank you to them."

The walk happens on June 22, when Island Park in Portage la Prairie hosts walk festivities from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hall expects a delightful day featuring a BBQ, games, prizes, and a bubble magician.

As the event draws nearer, Hall urges the community to step up with volunteering, donations, and sponsorships, ensuring the walk's success and impact.

"Autism is a topic that's really close to us. We really want people to come out and we want this event to continue. We want the community to support this. So, we've been trying our best out there, emailing people, going door to door, getting the word out in any way that we can."
