The City of Portage la Prairie will be looking to support the Herman Prior Centre through a new fund.

City Council approved the Herman Prior Centre Reserve Fund during tonight’s City Council meeting. Councillor Joe Masi explains what this fund will look to do for the centre.

“This is a reserve fund that will be used to maintain the Herman Prior Centre,” explains Masi. “It will give it upgrades when it's needed painting and so on. It's dedicated to making sure that those things are done at the Herman Prior Activity Centre for with any time, there's you know maintenance needed at all is all kinds of things needed for the community.”

He mentions that the Herman Prior Activity Centre is one of the many excellent areas in the city where Portagers can gather for special events. He, alongside the rest of the City Council, hopes that this fund will help those at the centre continue to find ways to grow in the years ahead.

“Monies from the rent payments will be put in this fund and will continue as long as we need to maintain that facility,” mentions Masi. “It will be an ongoing thing now, and those funds will be earmarked specifically to make sure the necessary repairs are done.
