Another candidate is in the running for a position with Portage la Prairie City Council. Central Plains Cancer Services Executive Director Sharilyn Knox made her announcement yesterday. She decided to run because she wants to see our economic development continue.

"I definitely love this city," says Knox. "And I see all the momentum we have when it comes to economic development over the last few years, and I just want to get involved to help keep that momentum going."

"The biggest reasons are that I see that we have a city full of amazing businesses, organizations, service groups and community members. I want to sit around the table and help serve that community, to create progress and continue to grow."

Knox is the eighth candidate to announce their run for Council, along with one candidate for mayor. Stay posted for more candidate announcements in the coming weeks. Registration closes on September 18th, and the election will be held on October 24th.
