Central Plains FC is enjoying a fairly successful start to their season, especially since they have yet to play a home game. Central Plains has a record of 2-2-2, which has them ranked fourth in their division's standings.

In their last two outings, the squad has shown what they're capable of on both ends of the field.

"The first of the two went really well. It ended up being a 7-3 win, but it actually was 8-3. The ref might've given the other team some pity and forgot to mark down one of our goals," says head coach Brett Hannah. "We had six different scorers. At the end of the first half, it was 4-3 for us, but we pulled away in the second half. For the second game, against Pescara, they're undefeated. It was a close loss. It was only 2-1. We fought for the ball a lot but we had a lot of players hurting from the 7-3 game against United Weston. We were missing four or five players due to injury."

Hannah says with the injuries considered, he's proud of the way the team performed in their battle with Pescara. Central Plains is tied for third in the league in total goals scored (15), and striker Brandon Weir is tied for second in the league in goals (5).

The head coach believes if they can keep the offence rolling, they should be able to return to Portage with a winning record.

"I think it's just about keeping our head in it tonight. We've been playing a lot of away games, and most of our players are from Portage. So, it can be hard to keep the schedule straight and still have enough energy after work to go play," Hannah explains. "Our first seven games are away games, so it's been a real battle for the first part of the season."

After tonight's matchup with Richmond United, Central Plains will have an entire month of games taking place at Rotary Republic of Manitobah Park.

"When we come back home and play on our own field, I think we should do better. I really don't think we should lose a game back in Portage," Hannah explains. "We know our field, and it's in good shape. We're just comfortable back here."

Central Plains and Richmond United will go head-to-head tonight at 7:30 at Buhler Recreation Park Field.
