Several contractors and over a hundred volunteers are being praised for a successful build week for the first Habitat for Humanity home in Portage.

Steering committee chairperson Charlie Clifford witnessed the build -- the shingling is now complete on a closed in and insulated home.

Clifford feels the city can offer a promising future with the organization.  Judging by the community's enthusiasm last week Clifford is certain a new Habitat home can be put up in Portage on a yearly basis.

Because last week's accomplishments are evident, Clifford admits the rewarding feeling is starting to set in.

This week is being used for rest and re-assessing their priorities in order to have the receiving family in the house by Thanksgiving.
