An indoor garage sale is taking place in Portage la Prairie on Saturday, April 20. it's being put on by United Way In Central Plains, and you can have a table. It seems a request was made to the organization for an event of this magnitude to be set up in our city.

Community Engagement Coordinators Kathryn Dalton and Megan Romphf are spearheading the day, and Dalton explains it's at the Portage Curling Club, and a first for them in town.

"They have done one out in Brandon before and it's been a huge success, but basically we're inviting garage salers, crafters, artisans, and all kinds of different vendors to come together," says Dalton. "We're anticipating on having about 80 tables and for $3, visitors can come and shop till they drop. We're open from 9:00 to 3:00. And it's a one-stop shop for all of those treasures."

She says the ice will be removed and will allow for a great open space with plenty of parking outside.

"This is the first time in Portage that we're having the indoor garage sale," adds Romphf. "A lot of our community members have said, 'Can we bring that here.?' So, here it is."

Dalton stresses all funds raised remain here in Portage and they'll go toward their 2024 campaign goals.

"Tables are available to be registered $35 a table, and $40 if you want a wall with electricity," continues Dalton. "We have people signed up with typical garage sale items. We do have some vendors making an appearance who were at our shopping night in November. We have some bakers, lots of fun things to be had there."
