It's almost time for the Santa Clara Baseball League to get underway and the Austin A's are hoping for a much better 2023 season.

In 2022, the A's finished with a 2-6 record, and were swept in the playoffs. Manager Brenden Reimer is optimistic about this year.

"I believe we'll be pretty good. Hopefully, we'll do better than last year," says Reimer. "Last year was a little bit of a tough season for a bunch of the guys. We have a lot of the guys and hopefully this year is a little bit better for us."

Reimer says there isn't one star player that will carry the team, noting they have many players who want to improve throughout the season.

"We got a bunch of guys that can all contribute in their own ways, at the plate, defensively, or pitching," says Reimer. "I don't think there's necessarily certain guys that teams look out for. I think, once you can get a team going, it's sometimes hard to stop."

Reimer pitches and catches for the squad. Now that the diamond is finally dry and that winter appears to be over, he is ready to get back out on the field with the guys. The team plans to start practicing this week. Games are expected to start around May 17th.
