An assault occurred in the 100 block of Tupper Street North last week on Wednesday at 2:40 p.m. Police arrived to find the suspect had fled. The victim was assaulted with a weapon and police apprehended the suspect later that evening and arrested the 18-year-old woman without incident. 

She was released to appear in court at a later date with imposed conditions. 

Crime continued that day after 9:00 p.m. when a stolen vehicle was reported from an address on the 1000 block of Dufferin Avenue East. 

The 22-year-old thief was known to the family and is a Portage resident who was located and placed under arrest shortly after.  

The suspect faces charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, Theft of Motor Vehicle, two counts of Fail to Comply with a Release Order and Fail to Comply with an Undertaking. He was held and appeared in court the next day.
