It's been a busy past couple of days for a farming couple from Austin.  Lyndon and Laurelly Beswitherick are in Saskatoon for the the Outstanding Young Farmers of Canada national event.  Lyndon says the schedule has been packed full of tours and in their spare time they're talking with farmers from across the country and making new connections. Among Beswitherick's highlights is last night's presentation of the 2006 National Outstanding Young Farmers Award which went to a couple from Alberta.  Oak Lake's Albert and Michelle Rimke were up for the honour, however Albert says they weren't let down when they found out they didn't win.  He notes the event has been a good opportunity to meet new people and learn how others run their Ag operations.
Rimke adds the Outstanding Young Farmers program is very beneficial, he encourages other couples to get involved.  He says the program is worthwhile regardless of what branch of agriculture you're involved with.
