Anthony Howard Ducharme, Sr

July 20, 1938 – January 10, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a great man, our dad, Anthony Howard Ducharme, Sr at 84 years old. He passed away after lengthy battles with numerous illnesses at the Portage General Hospital in Portage la Prairie, MB.

Predeceased by his loving wife Wilda of 61 years in September of 2022, infant daughter Shelly, and parents Phillip and Aldea Ducharme along with siblings Ralph, Edward, Wally, Freddie, Molly, Alma, Anita, Phyllis and Maryanne. Shortly after his passing, his brother Richard also passed away on January 12, 2023.

Anthony leaves to fondly cherish his memories, his children Anthony Jr (Gail) Donald, Charlene, his grandchildren Chantelle (Eric), Jonathan (Ericka), Justin (Kate), Theresa (Craig), Mathew (Aurora) and Donnisha, and great-grandchildren Jaylah, Jaxton, Bronxton, Mathew Jr, Gunnar and Anna-Lyn, and brothers Ben (Donna), Alphonse (Patricia), sisters Claire (Arny), Theresa and Cathy, in-laws Wilna and Reg Ducharme, Jerry and Rose St. Goddard, plus numerous nieces and nephews, family, and long-time friends.

Anthony was born in Portage la Prairie, MB and raised in St. Ambroise, MB with a family of 16 children. There he received his education and met the love of his life, Wilda St. Goddard and was married on September 30, 1961. They started their family in 1962 with their first-born son Anthony Jr. Sadly, they lost their second-born child Shelly, as an infant, due to illness. Donald and Charlene were their third and fourth-born respectively. He raised his family in St. Ambroise, and was a hard-worker in various trades throughout his years.

He loved to spend his time hunting and fishing and he also worked as a hunting guide at family-run lodges during the fall months. He truly enjoyed his many outdoor adventures with Junior and grandsons Justin and Jonathan, plus going on hunting trips with his long-time friend George Eck of Illinois, USA at Oak Hammock Marsh. He was passionate about woodworking, as displayed with his many projects like bird houses, planters, furniture, and houses.

Dad liked to prank his siblings, his friends and coworkers and loved telling jokes and sharing his stories. This was one of his most defining traits and something he will be remembered by. He was a jokester to the very end.

“Love you with all my heart,” Dad, as he would say to us.

The Funeral Service for Anthony will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at the St. Ambroise Catholic Church, St. Ambroise MB, with burial immediately following the service at the Church Cemetery.
