The Herman Prior Centre in Portage will be cooler in the next couple of weeks.

The next two weeks will see new air conditioning equipment installed at the Herman Prior Centre in Portage.

The Centre's needed the upgrade for some time, and is able to go ahead thanks to grants from the City and the Community Foundation of Portage and District.

Assistant Director Kim Oswald assures usual activities like the noon meal program won't be curtailed. They'll move into the Crocus Room until the installation is finished.

This time of year is when the Prior Centre is less busy, which Oswald says is why the work was scheduled for now.

She's convinced it's important for the Centre with the Canada Senior Games coming at the end of the month, as well as enhancing rental opportunities.
