Since their first day in business in 1963, Shewfelt’s Plumbing & Heating Ltd. has always been proud of their work and loyal to their community.

“We pride ourselves in making sure that our customers are completely satisfied after the work is completed and for many years to follow,” says Shewfelt’s owner, Drew Shewfelt.

Drew’s Grandfather, Clarence Shewfelt, began the business in 1963, and passed the business down to his sons, Ralph, Bill, and Keith. Ralph retired in 1985, and Bill and Keith retired in 2011, leaving the business to Bill’s son Drew and his wife Meagan. Recently, their Service Manager and lead HVAC Technician, Andre Toupin, has become a co-owner.

While the Shewfelt team dedicates their best work and service to the community, the community continues to give back that loyalty.

“We get a lot of positive feedback from our customers in various forms,” explains Shewfelt. “Our online reviews from Facebook and Google pages are always appreciated. We really feel humbled when we receive little personal notes mailed in with customer payments and general conversations with customers when they come into the shop.”

Since 2011, Shewfelt has seen the business grow more than he expected it to. Currently, the team consists of 12 Installers and Technicians and 2 parts warehouse staff, and Shewfelt looks forward to expanding even further.

“Our relocation plans are long overdue as we’ve out grown our existing space for quite some time now,” explains Shewfelt. “Thanks to all of our customers’ support we were able to make the move to this new space.”

Despite closing the store and limiting in-person customers during the pandemic, Shewfelt is still busier than ever.

“We struggle at times to keep up,” he explains. “We have noticed supply and demand issues with accessing stock and other materials due to COVID like I’m sure many other businesses have.”

Still, Shewfelt is looking forward to expanding his team and his inventory.

“Currently, our retail store is stocked with many plumbing and HVAC parts, and a full line of hot tub and pool chemicals,” says Shewfelt.

With their new building, they’re looking forward to displaying fireplace and hearth products, indoor air quality (IAQ) systems, drinking/well water filtration systems, and home vacuum systems, just to name a few.

However, Shewfelt still encourages their customers to limit any non-essential trips to the shop.

"We are just trying to do our part like everyone else in trying to keep our customers and staff safe,” explains Shewfelt. “We’ve implemented mandatory masks on all job sites, residences, and

in our building. Routine hand washing/sanitizing and disinfecting of high touch surfaces is enforced as well as contact tracing. We’ve updated our debit/credit card machine to a wireless for curbside and no touch transactions.”

Over the next 6 months, the Shewfelt Plumbing & Heating Ltd. Team are going to take the time to get settled into the new space so they can continue to grow and offer customers better service and a better shopping experience. They hope to have a proper grand opening once they can do so safely.

“It’s going to be a great year,” says Shewfelt, “and we hope to see you soon!”
