Reports of a 3-year-old missing child have been circulating on social media since Thursday night and made their way to the Portage RCMP Detachment. RCMP Media Liaison Officer Constable Larry Neufeld outlines efforts made regarding this:

On March 5, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call of a 3-year-old outside and not dressed for the weather. This apparently occurred in the 500-block of 11th Street NW. The information had all been received third-hand.

RCMP attended immediately, and no child was located in or around the area. Police dog services were also helping in searching for this youth. RCMP knocked on several doors in the area and no one was missing a child or had seen any child matching this description.

RCMP cannot corroborate this information as it is third-hand with no way of contacting this person. RCMP have not received any calls of a missing child.

If anyone has any information in regards to this, they are asked to call the Portage la Prairie RCMP at (204) 857-4445.
