Sleeping under the stars amidst the historic buildings at the Fort la Reine Museum. This was the premise of Museum in the Moonlight, an event which took place last Thursday.

Executive Director Madison Connolly explains this was the first time the museum was able to host the event, noting they had the idea last year, but didn't see any interest until the last minute.

"We actually didn't think anyone wanted to register so we cancelled it. Then, the day that we were supposed to have it, we had about 30 phone calls for it," Connolly laughs. "So this year we thought we could try it again, just on a smaller scale with a maximum of ten tents. We actually got five tents, which was perfect."

Connolly says the response was positive and people enjoyed the fact that the event was held mid-week so they could still spend the weekend out at the cottage. She says they hope to hold the event again next year, hopefully with more hands-on activities post-pandemic.

The event featured games, a nighttime scavenger hunt on constellation history and legends, s'mores around the campfire and a continental breakfast the following morning.
