Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a call of an injured man on the side of Highway 245, in the Municipality of Norfolk Treherne, Monday afternoon (February 28.)
The initial investigation has determined that the man was loading an excavator onto a trailer when the boom contacted a hydro line.
It is believed that this contact resulted in the man having received an electrical shock.
Emergency Medical Services attended, and the 58-year-old man from Edwin was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health have been notified, and the RCMP continues to investigate.
