The PCI Junior Varsity Trojans hit the court in tonight's West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Tier Two action. They're at Winnipeg St. John's Collegiate, where they'll take on the the undefeated Tigers. Portage enters the game after Tuesday's 64-50 loss to Westwood. Coach Darin Arnold says despite the recent loss, and a tough opponent, they're remaining optimistic.

"It was, for the most part, a close game until right at the very end there. There's some optimism but we know we have a lot of work to do. St. John's will be the best team in their league, they haven't lost yet this year. The cards are certainly stacked against us."

The last time the two teams met was January 7th at PCI, when the Tigers took a decisive 84-42 win. Arnold says as they prepare for tomorrow's game, the importance of defence is being made clear.

"We're making sure we have good transition defence, that's a big one. Last time we played we gave them 40 points in three baskets because we just couldn't get back. We weren't focused on doing our assignments on defence. If we can take away those 40 points it should be a close game."

That game's set for five o'clock at St. John's Collegiate.
