It didn't take long for the PCI Trojans to put on the board, in yesterday's significant win over the Carman Cougars in Zone 4 High School Hockey Action. Tyson Dyck scored just 11 seconds into the first period, kicking off an onslaught of goals against the cougars that resulted in a 9-3 victory.

Trojans Assistant Coach Mark Essay notes the win could set the tone for the first round of playoffs. Tonight's game is the final of the regular season, and Essay says it looks like they could be going up against the Cougars in next week's first round of playoffs.

"We're very, very hopeful. If we jack things up tomorrow night, we might now be, but tomorrow, on paper, should be a win for us and then we'd line up against Carman next week."

They've faced Carman three times over the season, taking wins in two of those meetings. Essay says while PCI hasn't seen a successful playoff run in the last decade, they have a shot this year.

"We typically don't make it past the first round, I've been with the program for ten years and I've only done that once. It's in their hands. We've won the series now with Carman, and we beat them handily here today. If we do that again next week, we'll be into round two. I think the guys really want that, and I think they know they can. They've have some stupid losses lately that they're a little embarrassed about and they certainly don't want to go out in the first round because they'll hear about it forever."

Tonight's game will see the Trojans on the road to Winkler to take on the Nighthawks.
