A hot start on the road propelled the Portage Terriers 4-0 last night over the Dauphin Kings. Ethan Peterson calmly turned aside 24 shots for his second shutout in less than a week.

Similar to their win on Tuesday against Winnipeg, Portage found the back of the net in the first five minutes. On his first shift back from University, Chase Brakel snapped home the puck from the high slot. "We got off to a good start and were controlling them in their end" says Brakel. "We figured out that we just needed to get it deep and cycle the puck."

He then found Ty Barnstable with a nice pass five minutes later and the Terriers went up by two. That would be the end of the night for Dauphin’s goalie Ethan Slobodzian who stopped six of eight shots. Bryan Landsberger came into the game in relief but let in one of the first shots he faced. Logan Calder tipped home a Morgan Poirier point shot to make it 3-0. The assist was the first point as a Terrier for the veteran defenceman.

Portage jumped out quickly again in the second; Reece Henry fired home a shot from the slot. The Kings started to settle down and the scoring dried up. The play started to get chippy at the end of the frame and the rough stuff continued in the third. In the final period Braden Billaney was ejected for a blow to the head and Ocean Wiesblatt was kicked out for fighting; 61 minutes in penalties were handed out.

The Terriers now extend their winning streak to nine games in a row. Orca Wiesblatt’s nine game point streak has come to an end but Ty Barnstable has now registered a point in eight straight. Portage is back at home Saturday night against a team they beat twice last weekend the Waywayseecapp Wolverines.
