The PCI Saints are off to the second round of the Winnipeg Women's High School Hockey League Playoffs after tonight's 3-2 win over Oak Park.

The Saints came out strong -- despite their lack of skaters -- and scored 3 goals in the first period. After a short break in the game due to a scheduling conflict in the third, fatigue began to set in for PCI. Oak Park was able to scamble back to within one, but the Saints were able to hold out for a victory while killing off a 2 man advantage.

Saints' Paige Shwaluk, Maegan Inmann and Bailey Grantham were their goal scorers. Grantham's and Inman's goals were scored shorthanded. Saints' Head Coach Jo-Anne Clark-Gillespie talks about the mix up in the 3rd period.

"At 5:15 the gate opened and the ice guy said the ice's over, I think there was about 12-and-a-half minutes left to go in the game and that gave Oak Park a little bit of life actually. Then we ran into penalty trouble at the end of the game, and we ended up finished the game 2 men short. The girls battled hard and really worked hard for the win, so they're quite excited."

The Saints will be re-seeded following the first round, and the second round will begin next week.
