The Portage Men's Bonspiel is this weekend at the Portage Curling Club.

It starts with the first draw tonight, and Co-chair Daryl Bachalo says a lot has gone into it.

"Looking forward to getting in there because it's been quite a bit of work getting ready for it. So once we get into it and start enjoying the curling and it's going to be a good time."

Bachalo says it's tougher and tougher to find teams every year, but is happy with their amount this year.

"We're down from last year. We're going to have 20 teams, and we're finding it's a hard thing to run spiels now. People are just more involved with their kids. It's a challenge, but it's going to be a success. Everybody's going to have a good time."

He adds even though the numbers are low, they still have a great weekend planned.

"We're going to have a draw to the button. MIG is sponsoring a $10,000 draw to the button. Friday night you have to compete to get into the final 5 on Saturday. We also have some door prizes, and we're giving away Jets tickets Saturday as well."

The final is set for Sunday afternoon, depending on results. Tonight's first draw is at 6.
