The Portage Minor Hockey Association's Lion's Atom Tournament starts today at the PCU Centre.

There are 24 teams, and Portage has three teams entered, with the first game starting this morning at 8:15. Portage Minor Hockey President Peter Fedak talks about rhe benefits and the teams involved.

"It's a great way for the kids to get out and help volunteer as well. We've got pee wee players that'll come and help out, and do things on the ice, and move things around, so it gets the entire league involved. Looking at our teams, we've got the locals MacGregor, Oakville, and Neepawa. (As well), Morden, we've got a team from Gimli, Boissevain, Glenboro. We've also got some other teams coming in from Kenora, so this one attracts quite a bit of attention."

Fedak says it's a good chance to get out and support the local clubs, and catch some exciting hockey.

The championship final is set for Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
