The Portage Islanders aim to extend their win streak to 7 games tomorrow night at the PCU Centre when they take on Winkler in South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League action.

The Islanders last loss came at the hands of Winkler by a score of 7-4 on December 6, and player-coach Anders Strome says they'll have to play hard to beat the Royals.

"I thought we played pretty well last time in their rink and obviously since then our game has improved. We've got some momentum going so we'd like to have a good effort tomorrow night. I know Winkler will be coming in ready to play so we've got to bring a good effort. "

The Islanders have a record of 7 wins and 5 losses on the season and are in 3rd place in the SEMHL standings thanks to their 6 game win streak. Strome explains why the Islanders have been so successful as of late.

"I think it's a combination of things. Guys are getting use to playing with each other, guys are feeling a little bit better out there in terms of conditioning and everything like that and just getting use to the pace of the league. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night so you've got to come ready to play and I think that our guys are starting to get in the groove and gel a little bit better."

Tomorrow nights game starts at 7:30 at the PCU Centre.
