The Central Plains Capitals made it two straight over Norman this weekend in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League action in Thompson.

The Caps won game two 7-1 Sunday after crushing the Northstars 10-1 Saturday evening. The Caps had lost their last three matches before heading north, and the wins couldn't have come at a better time.

Zak Smith and Reilly Funk each had three points in the victory for the Caps. Click here to see the full scoring summary from Sunday's game.

The standings are so tight toward the top that it will come down to the final game of the year for several teams to determine the final standings for playoffs. Right now the Caps sit in sixth place with 51 points, two points ahead of Eastman (49) -- who has a game in hand -- and only one point back of fifth place Brandon (52). The Pembina Valley Hawks have 55 points and a game in hand on the Caps, so a push for fourth to host a playoff series is most likely out of the question.

Central Plains is off until Saturday when they play their final home game of the regular season against Southwest at the BDO Centre.
