The Central Plains Capitals have advanced to the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League's Semi Final thanks to last night's 2-1 overtime win over Eastman.

The Caps swept their opening series 3 games to 0, narrowly edging out their opponents in the final game. After a scoreless first period, Eastman opened things up with a goal 5 minutes into the second. The Selects continued to battle hard in the 3rd, but Caps' forward Amy Klippenstein was able to tie things up with just under 10 minutes to go in the game. Just 2 minutes into the overtime period, Chelsea Hallson scored the series ending goal for the Capitals.

Hallson describes her series ending overtime goal.

"I don't know, the girl just turned it over at her blue line and I picked it up, went around, got a shot, and got my own rebound.

Hallson's goal in overtime to close out the series

Caps' Head Coach Ferdi Nelissen says their special team's played a big factor the entire series.

"Our specialty teams were really good. Our penalty team was good because last night there was a lot of penalties called, a 5-on-3. Our specialty teams were very effected, specialty teams -- in the playoffs -- they play a big role and we were good at it this series."

The Caps now move on to face Pembina Valley in the Semi Final. A team Hallson says they can beat.

"Definitely a tough series, I'm sure it'll be back and forth. But we've beat them this year, so I think it'll be close."

A date has not yet been set for this Semi Final.
