There's a few high school basketball games in town today.

The PCI Trojans junior varsity basketball have some exhibition games today. The Trojans captured the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference Championship last season, and today's action will be their first at home this season. Trojans' Head Coach Darin Arnold says they've been practicing since the start of November, and it's time to put it to work.

"This is two games, where we've had enough work on offense and defense and systems and stuff, that it'll be a lot more serious. We want to work on everything that we've worked on in practice the past couple of weeks, so that when we pull around to next week we're ready for the start of the league."

The Trojans face Morden at 12:30 p.m. and Sanford at 2.

The junior varsity PCI Saints are in a tournament as well, not too far from home. The Westpark Royals' Junior Varsity Girl's basketball tournament is today at Westpark School in Portage la Prairie. Saints' Head Coach Dave McLeod's just looking to evaluate the players' abilities.

"It's a good chance for us as coaches to kind of see what we've got, and what we need to work on going forward. This week I think we've really overloaded the girls with a lot of information, and so after this we'll just see what we need to touch on and what we need to maybe work at a little bit harder."

The Westpark Royals' JV girl's basketball club won the Zone 4 Championship last season, and Head Coach Brian Brewer says this weekend is a good chance for the girls to have some fun and gel.

"We obviously want them to have fun all the time, but I've put in a few things -- a little bit of offense, and defense -- don't want to overwhelm them but we've got a little bit of a structure going. This is just a tune-up, go out there, get used to playing as a team and having some fun. It's a good way to start it off."

The Royals face Prairie Mountain at 9 a.m. and the PCI Saints and Steinbach go at 10:30 a.m.
