A grade six girl from Arthur Meighen School in Portage la Prairie made a lot of people happy at Friday night's Battle of the Badges, in support of Recreation Opportunities for Kids (ROK) Central.

Alejandra Logan was the winner of the Chuck-A-Puck contest, where people throw sponge pucks onto the ice, and attempt to be closest to centre ice.

When organizers tried to hand the eleven-year-old the $80 she won, she knew exactly what she wanted to do with the prize.

"I'm donating it back (to ROK), because I think it's a nice thing to do," says Logan. "It makes me feel like I care for lots of people."

She didn't intend to win the contest, and says it was mostly luck.

"No, I wasn't really confident that I'd win, but I was the closest one!"

Executive Director Lynne Parker says she was so happy to see Alejandra's generosity, noting she won't be surprised to see her doing great things for her community in the future.

The effort raised $1,800 for ROK's programs.
