A few local students have been recognized for their posters submitted in the United Commercial Travellers Safety Poster Contest. Yellowquill School's Les Mason, Emily Yacucha, Makayla McIntyre, and Dylan Durand each submitted a poster in the contest on a topic of their choice.

Les Mason won 1st place for his poster about ski-doo safety and says he chose that topic because he loves to ski-doo with his cousins. He says a few things people need to do in order to be safe while snowmobiling is always wear a helmet and proper snowmobile gear. Les says he was very excited to win 1st place, and urges everyone to be safe on a sled.

Emily Yacucha was excited to place 2nd with her poster about the dangers of using your cellphone while driving. She says she made the poster because she just wants everyone to be safe on the roads, adding using your phone while driving is very dangerous.

Makayla Mcintyre came in 3rd with her farm safety poster. She says she chose to do her poster about farm safety because she lives on a farm and knows a lot about how they work. Makayla also stresses you should never wear fancy clothing when on a farm because it can very easily get dirty. She says she was very excited when her dad told her she had gotten 3rd in the contest.

Dylan Durand got an honourable mention for his anti-smoking poster. He chose this topic because his parents smoke and he knows smoking isn't good for you. Dylan says if you don't smoke you'll have a healthier life.
