The RM of Woodlands has a new Reeve. Lori Schellekens was elected in a tight race for the position. She describes what it feels like as she settles into the position.

"I had my first meeting Tuesday night," notes Schellekens. "It felt good. I felt like I was supposed to be in that seat. I've got a really great team of people that I'm going to be working with. I think we won't necessarily move mountains, but I'm certain to get some business and more residents in our RM and move things forward."

She says they have some business parking warrants to fill up, with four lots left. Schellekens notes there are people who will be breaking ground this spring, providing some more momentum in that area. She adds she wants to begin looking at housing models for all age groups and not just the seniors. Schellekens says seniors are moving to Rockwood and they're losing the people who made Woodlands what it is, and wants to keep them.

Schellekens adds there are several young people whom she personally knows who want to stay in Woodlands and not move to the city. She says the problem is there's no housing for them, noting both seniors and young people should be facilitated.
