Westpark School's Varsity Boys basketball team will be hosting this year's 'AA' Provincial Tournament.

Head coach Dave Britton says there was another school initially planned to host the tournament but when it fell through he says they were more than happy to take on the responsibility. This, of course, means that Westpark will be participating in the tournament, which Britton says his guys are thrilled about.

"We're excited. The opportunity to play more games against the top 'AA' teams in Manitoba is exciting for our team," says Britton. "They love a challenge."

Britton notes the tournament will take place from March 17-19 with 10 teams involved.

The head coach says his team finished in second place in the Zone 4 'AA' Boys Basketball League this season but fell in their semi-final matchup. He adds they had one of the smaller benches in the league, which ultimately came back to bite them.

Britton outlines his goals for the boys in this tournament.

"I'm hoping our very last game is our best game and that the kids have a lot of fun," Britton explains. "To experience the opportunity of hosting a tournament like this is quite an honour. I hope they enjoy the whole experience."

The Westpark basketball team will be awaiting their return to the court for this provincial tournament on March 17.
