The Westpark Royals Varsity Girls volleyball team made a surprising win after losing two sets to the Shevchenko Sabres tonight. The girls ended up winning 3 of 5 sets, 25-22 in the third, 25-23 in the fourth, and 15-12 in the fifth.

Coach Shawn Cornish says the girls didn't start out the greatest, but managed to pick it back up to grab the win.

"It started pretty rough, we had a few things to iron out, but I think the girls picked up their energy and enthusiasm as the game went along, so that's everything in volleyball," says Cornish.

Cornish thinks it was a really good game and says he's glad the girls came out on top. For next time, Cornish hopes the girls keep up their enthusiasm for the entire game.

"I think just starting out with the same mindset that they finish with, so just caring about every ball, communicating well, and really playing hard right to the whistle," Cornish says.

To wrap up the season, the Royals have one last weekend tournament this Saturday at the Dufferin Christian Varsity Girls Invitational in Carmen.
