The latest update regarding the Saskatchewan Avenue rejuvenation project in Portage la Prairie has been sent out to businesses, and it addresses a concern some people may have had, regarding the height of the road.

The new road appears to be three to four feet lower, and this is to allow for proper drainage. According to the update, this was why there have been so many holes in the road over the last year. The infrastructure below the surface was nearing the end of its lifespan and needed to be replaced.

Once this work is complete, water will be directed away from storefronts, even in the event of a large storm. The Portage and District Chamber of Commerce says they are happy with the progress of the work thus far.
