The month of April was a wet one for Portage la Prairie, with lots of rain falling over the last thirty days.

Environment and Climate Change Canada recorded 5.5 and 32.2 millimetres for the 29th and 30th of April respectively, to put our monthly total at 95.1 millimetres. These are the amounts recorded at their Southport station.

Local weather observer, Henry Romance, keeps track of his own amounts in downtown Portage. He says between 7 p.m. on Friday and 5 a.m. on Sunday, he recorded 37 millimetres. For the month of April, he counted 112 millimetres overall.

Both stations are counting the snow events on the 13th/14th of April, the 17th rain event (which saw a little drizzle carry over to the 18th), the multi-day rain event from the 22nd to the 24th, as well as this past weekend. Environment Canada also recorded some very light rain on the 5th and 7th.
