On February 2 at about 10:45 p.m., Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP on patrol was advised by a passerby of a suspicious black truck which was stuck in the ditch off Road 130 N.

Officers attended and the vehicle was gone. Patrols were made in and around the area and officers located the vehicle, which failed to stop for police and fled.

Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle stuck in the ditch off Highway 278, at the south end of Ebb and Flow First Nation, and saw a man fleeing on foot. After a brief pursuit, he was arrested without incident. He was wanted on two outstanding warrants.

The vehicle was confirmed to be stolen and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a loaded shotgun, a small quantity of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. When the man was searched, he was found to be in possession of a large quantity of cash.

Along with his warrants, 30-year-old Richard Ross has been charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime x2
  • Resist Arrest
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon with Ammo without Licence/Registration

He was remanded into custody.
