Walter spent his entire life on or nearby the farm. Dad raised cattle, pigs, chickens, crops, cucumbers and children.  Lodge and Ivy were renowned for their gardens, both vegetable and flowers. Even into their 80’s gardening was a special hobby all spring and summer. He and Mom spent days watching the Young and the Restless as well as curling.

As a youth, Walter would walk to town from the farm to take part in sports – hockey as a PCI Trojan and as a Portage Terrier, as well as playing rugby and baseball. Dad also had a lifelong passion for hunting. He was also a handyman, construction worker, farmer, gardener, taxi driver and owner. Dad completed Grade 11, and with two pals hopped a train, riding box cars to British Columbia. He returned two weeks later. Walter and Ivy met, fell in love, and married in 1949, and were a week short of 70 years of marriage when Mom passed away.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
