Manitoba has consistently ranked lowest in the nation for its education level.

A commission member from our area says the provincial government's K-to-12 review is still in the works to try and change that standing.

"It's still ongoing," notes Ian Wishart. "The commission continues. It's arms-length from government, and we did a really thorough consultation process. Now they're examining and analyzing some of the information they got. A little bit of research is going on behind the scenes."

He explains the review is on pace to be completed by the end of this year. Wishart adds he's pleased to be a small part of it, adding it's been in need completion for quite a while.

"We've done most of the public consultations," continues Wishart. "Once we get a draft, there'll be some further consultations with some of the organizations, but not too much public until the final report is ready."
