This past Saturday afternoon saw two incidents involving two females at the Portage Regional Library, and then at ScotiaBank.

"Upon entering the library, several people complained about smelling and tasting a very noxious substance," says Constable Sean O'Keefe. "Some were even to the point where their skin was starting to burn. We know this to be something along the lines of bear spray. To the best of my knowledge, nobody was injured as a result of the spray being administered, because it wasn't directly sprayed at somebody."

He explains the women are believed to have sprayed the mace into the library and left.

O'Keefe notes the police also think the women robbed somebody at the ScotiaBank, in what appears to have been a very random incident using the same mace. The two were later arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and robbery.
